6 Rules for bachelor parties to avoid waking up sunburned and stranded on a roof.

Friends won't let friends get married without a memorable "last night of freedom," so they make sure they do.
There are some bachelor party guidelines you should be aware of before you start stuffing your wallet with singles.

If you follow these suggestions, you'll be able to recall all the fun you're about to have.

RULE #1: If you're the best man, you're the party planner.

First order of business: find out what the groom wants to do. Does he want to tear up Las Vegas, or would he rather sit around with his buds and smoke cigars? Not all bachelor parties involve tons of booze and strippers. If he doesn’t want strippers (perhaps because of an agreement with his fiancé), don’t “surprise” him. Once the groom decides the night’s festivities, it’s your job to make them happen.

Rule #2: There is no cost to the groom.

Participants at the gathering should split all expenses evenly. Start conserving your money if you’re planning a weekend getaway. As the best man, you have the duty to gather the funds, so get going as soon as possible.

RULE #3: The guest list is the groom's call.

While some grooms want to invite solely friends, others may want to include family and friends. In the end, it is his decision. Remember why you’re both there if you have a disagreement with someone on the guest list to prevent trouble.

RULE #4: No hazing.

Unless you wish to explain to the bride why the groom is wearing a cast, do not embarrass the groom and do not put him in risk.

RULE #5: Don't act like you're at a frat party.

A few drinks in the groom’s honour are acceptable.
Beers shotgunned while pursuing targets?
Most likely not.
You want the groom to genuinely recall his final night of freedom, as I previously mentioned.
Drink to your heart’s content, but if the groom is burned on a rooftop, things have gone too far.

RULE #6: Figure out transportation before the night (or weekend) starts.

Put this on your increasing list of things to accomplish, best man.
Plan the transportation for attendees to and from the venue, especially if alcohol will be served.
It’s fantastic if one of your team volunteers to be the designated driver, but if no one steps forward, you’ll need to make arrangements for car service.
Keep in mind that the groom makes no payment.
